Frequently
asked
questions
Are you a school?
We are not a school. Each student will be registered as a homeschooled student and parents are ultimately responsible for their child's education. We are a homeschool co-op, partnering with parents to create a dynamic and engaging Christ-Centered homeschool education experience.
What is a Crew?
A Crew consists of a facilitator, and a group of at least 12 students close in age & grade. Parents/family members volunteer in each crew.

Where are your Crews located?
The beauty of the Solid Rock model is we can be anywhere there is a need, a facilitator, and a host location.
For the 2023/24 school year, our location is Springwater Church of the Nazarene in East Gresham, OR.

Please let us know if you would like to host a Crew(s)! Call 503-481-8292 or shoot us an email at
info@solidrock-education.com. We'd love to help you make it happen!
How does the application process work?
Step 1: Fill out the application form (no fee necessary).

Step 2: You will receive a phone call from Solid Rock once we've reviewed your application. We will get to know you a little, answer any questions you may have, and discuss the status of your crew(s).

Step 3:
Each crew needs 12 students to be able to open.

If your Crew(s) is open: We will send you the registration information. You will:
-pay the Application, Registration, & Curriculum fees to secure your spot(s)
-Read & Sign the Registration Documents
-Get set up on Tuition Auto Pay

If your crew(s) is not open yet: We will contact you as soon as we have one open. We'll then complete the steps listed above. We will be in touch throughout this process. Please reach out anytime with questions or for an update.

Are there mandatory parent hours?
Solid Rock believes that parent involvement in a child's life & education is vital to their growth and development! While there are not mandatory volunteer hours, being a homeschool co-op, parent/family member involvement is part of our program. See volunteer opportunities below. We are willing to get created to work with your availability.

How can I be involved?
-
In a Crew. We need one volunteer in each Crew at all times.
-
Teach a practical life skill stent sometime throughout the year. Ask for more details.
-
Network with the community and set up opportunities for students to volunteer.
-
Help plan events & fundraisers
Once my child is enrolled, can I cancel at any time?
We require families to give a 30 day written notice and two months payments after withdrawal. In the case that your spot is filled before the 2 months time frame, your payment obligation will end as soon as the replacement is finalized.

How can you help spread the word?
We would love for you to tell others about what we are doing here at Solid Rock. Please like and share our Facebook and Instagram pages.

If you know of potential students, host locations or facilitators who are looking for something new, send them our way!
What are the benefits of this education model?
We love Solid Rock's education model because:
-
It allows parents to be active and involved in their child's education.
-
We get to partner with/come alongside parents to provide a homeschool style education for their children.
-
Homeschool students can participate in public school extra curricular and sports activities.
-
Solid Rock utilizes space that is already in existence which:
-
provides an opportunity for churches to:
-
use their building(s) to serve the youth in their community during the week
-
participate in offering a Christ-centered education to their community
-
-
allows for Solid Rock to duplicate it's crews as many times as there is need, space, and facilitators. We are not limited to a building, therefore we can go anywhere!

When will you have practical life skill classes?
We will have a practical life skill class once a week. The length of our practical life skills classes will be determined by the one leading the session. Some classes will be a couple weeks long whereas others may be a six week long course. Our hope is to end the week (Thursday afternoon) with these classes, but we will be flexible if needed to accommodate the instructor's schedule.
Can families not enrolled in Solid Rock join the life skills courses?
YES!!! As our practical life skills calendar is finalized, we will post it on the website. You can choose what life skills class(es) you would like to join and sign up online. We look forward to building community with you! We would also love for you to join us on community serve days! We will have those days posted as well.
